Brand new STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI trailer teases a dark, dramatic sequel

New Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer questions Rey and Kylo Ren’s loyalties

A brand new full-length Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer just debuted, and it’s safe to say the long-awaited eighth installment in the originally planned nine-film franchise is high on film fans’ must-watch lists this fall. Comparisons to Empire Strikes Back aside given this one’s in the middle of the three-film current arc, there’s definitely a darker tone and an ominous ending to to new trailer. Loyalties are in question, the death of an iconic character is essentially dangled in our faces, and on the surface it appears Rey and Kylo Ren are joining forces. The Last Jedi’s second full-length trailer is bound to be dissected and put under the microscope even more than the newest Justice League trailer, and there’s plenty of eye-popping, theory-sparking new footage to sink your teeth into. Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi-Rey’s Emotional Rollercoaster; Damn Those AT-ATs hits theaters just in time for Christmas, so you’ve got plenty of time to watch and re-watch the new trailer before then.

TOMB RAIDER 2018 gets its first action-packed, video game reminiscent trailer

alicia vikander tomb raider movie 2018 trailer

Tomb Raider trailer reboots the movie in the vein of the game reboot

Tomb Raider 2018 is another movie in a long line of hopefuls that attempts to “be the first successful video game adaptation,” which is always a strange slot for a new film to occupy. Assassin’s Creed recently tried and fell flat on its face, even with the help of Michael Fassbender, and there have been so many more before Tomb Raider that they’re just not worth counting (I guarantee someone, somewhere, has counted every single game-turned-movie adaptation). Unfortunately, Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) doesn’t have the audience pull of Fassbender, yet she’s taken up the Lara Croft mantle, and the Tomb Raider game franchise barely seems to keep knocking the last nail from the coffin with each new iteration. Reboots upon reboots upon “hey look a top-down weird/kind of cool one.” With that in mind, I think anyone would be hard-pressed to root for Tomb Raider the movie 2018 TM with 100% gusto, and the first trailer for the film does little the raise anticipation levels.

Judge for yourself, and check out the first trailer for Tomb Raider after the jump.

New JUSTICE LEAGUE trailer and posters cement the DC tag-team in crumbling stone

justice league movie trailer 2017 new wonder woman smirk

Superman died, but the Justice League is alive and kicking in new trailer

What’s there really to say about DC’s upcoming Justice League movie at this point? Love it, hate it, or shrug your shoulders over it and the GIGANTIC MONEY MAKING MACHINE superhero tentpoles have become, Justice League is hitting theaters next month. A new trailer dropped today to cement the team’s beat-em-up-together attitude, give fans a new song cover to Google, and sneak in glimpses of the villain and his disposable henchman while also hinting at the possible return of Superman. It’s a lot to digest, regardless of whether you love this stuff or not, so it’s probably worth the watch just so you can halfway decipher what people are talking about in the office tomorrow morning.

Check out the brand new full-length Justice League “Heroes” trailer and ten character posters after the jump.

DOWNSIZING trailer is Matt Damon’s Honey I Shrunk the Kids! world for wealthy adults

downsizing movie 2017 matt damon kristen wiig

Downsizing trailer shrinks Damon and Wiig down to a manageable size

The first trailer for Downsizing dropped mid-month to preview the upcoming Honey I Shrunk the Adults-style overpopulation and responsible budgeting dramedy from director Alexander Payne (Sideways, Nebraska). Imagine a world in which $52,000 is worth $12 million because you’re only a few inches tall and your resource demands are only a fraction of the cost. Sure, shrinking yourself and your financial responsibilities may be exciting and adventurous at first, but I bet the seams start to come apart when the gravity of what you’ve done sets in. That’s the premise of Payne’s Downsizing, an odd movie that sees a tiny Matt Damon scraped off a hospital table by a nurse with a spatula, and I’m curious to say the least.

Watch the first trailer for Downsizing and read a short plot synopsis for the movie after the jump.

THE SHAPE OF WATER new red band trailer teases del Toro’s strange fantasy fairytale

shape of water movie trailer 2017

Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water trailers are full of wonder and weird

The Shape of Water is Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming thriller/fantasy/fairytale, and if the trailers are any indication we can expect del Toro’s iconic stamp of surreal innocence and naive danger. A new red band trailer just debuted, which is red band for language for the most part, but the film’s R rating makes me optimistic that the director will continue to dig into the shadows in a way that only he manages to pull off. Del Toro always seems to be climbing his own Mountain of Madness toward more mainstream success (Blade, Hellboy, Pacific Rim), but it’s like he’ll drop something crazy and unique and then slide back down the mountain for a while. The Shape of Water looks great, but I don’t see it catapulting him back up to the peak where I think he’d like to be in order to bring some of his more outrageous Lovecraft ideas to life.

Watch both the first full-length and the new red band trailers for The Shape of Water after the jump.
