Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away gets the 8 Bit Cinema treatment

It’s been a while since I shared one of the 8 Bit Cinema gems from the folk over at CineFix (with the last being their take on Guardians of the Galaxy), so I had to put up their newest adaptation of Spirited Away. It’s surprising the Studio Ghibli classic never got an actual video game treatment, because the 8 Bit Cinema for Spirited Away proves just how retro-tastic a game based on the movie could have been. I love these creative mash-ups/what-if video game videos CineFix is putting out, so I’ll try to catch them more frequently and pass them along as they’re released.

Watch the worthwhile 8 Bit Cinema video for Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited away after the jump.

Movie-themed video games are funny. The movies that don’t deserve games almost always get adaptations, and the films built for their own game never get the chance. If someone made it their life’s goal to create actual, playable games from each of the 8 Bit Cinema entries, the world would forever be in their debt. One can dream…

If you love these 8 Bit Cinema videos as much as I do, be sure to check out some of the others. I’m also a big fan of the How It Should Have Ended series of animated videos and the Honest Trailers from Screen Junkies. Give them a watch!
