The crew is as crazy as ever in first Furious 7 trailer

Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, or at least what it has become, so I let the first trailer for Furious 7 simmer for a while before deciding to post it up. That said, I know enough about Furious 7 to know the big appeal/intrigue/news surrounding this outing is the fact that Paul Walker passed away during filming (his brothers stepped in to help finish up) and that Jason Statham is playing the villain. Both are bound to be enough to fill seats with fans of the ridiculous stunt-filled spectacle the franchise is now banking on. If the first trailer is any indication, we’re in for one wild ride regardless of who’s behind the wheel or pulling the triggers this time around.

Watch the first trailer for Furious 7 after the jump.

Furious 7 knows how to appeal to its fans, and teasing a last-minute tire-spinning rescue, The Rock flexing to break out of a cast, and sneak peeks at some Statham action is enough to get those ticket-buyers salivating. If you’re a little behind on the plot after six movies, you should know better than to go digging too deep for anything more than vroom vroom boom boom. This one essentially focuses on revenge and sees Statham seeking vengeance for the death of his brother (Luke Evans from Fast & Furious 6). Other than that, the movie is said to continue its “global exploits.”

Furious 7 boasts a cast of Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Elsa Pataky, Lucas Black, Jason Statham, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Djimon Hounsou, Tony Jaa, Ronda Rousey, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Kurt Russell. The movie roars into theaters April 3, 2015.
