Jack Black is R.L. Stine in first full-length Goosebumps trailer

The Goosebumps movie finally has a full-length trailer for us to enjoy. As a fan of both the books and the quirky television series from the ’90s, I think this looks like a lot of fun. Instead of focusing on one book or self-contained adventure, the movie is a mix of every monster R.L. Stine brought to life, and there’s a lot of material there to work with. Part Cabin in the Woods, part good ol’ fashioned Joe Dante freaky family fun, Goosebumps just feels…right. I can’t wait to catch this one around Halloween!

Watch the worthwhile full-length trailer and read a plot synopsis for Goosebumps after the jump.

What did you think? Any of your favorites show up? I’m a sucker for Slappy, and I’m really hoping some Monster Blood makes an appearance. Maybe some people will learn to fly or grow to giant size? Like I said, there’s so much here to play with, we’re bound to get at least glimpses of fan favorites and underrated oddballs.

If you’re not familiar with the Goosebumps series (shame on you), here’s a lengthy plot synopsis of the movie to fill in some details:

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah, living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine, the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

Goosebumps stars Jack Black as the author brought to the big screen, and he’s joined by Amy Ryan, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Ken Marino, Jillian Bell, and Ryan Lee. The film was directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Monsters vs. Aliens), and you can catch it in theaters just in time for Halloween on October 16, 2015.
