The CARRIE trailer is a remake defined

Carrie starring Chloe Grace Moretz

Check out the first full-length trailer for Carrie

Our first look at a full-length trailer for Carrie doesn’t leave much to the imagination by way of story, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Starring an un-masked Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) as the titular character, the remake of the 1976 film of the same name promises to hit all the same notes updated for a new generation.

Again, it looks like the film is hitting all the right notes as far as a remake of the original goes. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is yet to be seen though, and we’ll have to wait until October to find out.

Here’s a look at the Brian De Palma directed 1976 version starring Sissy Spacek as the tortured girl in pig’s blood:

Aside from from an updated CG car crash scene it looks like the same Carrie with the same problems. Poor girl. The new film makes her look like somewhat of a superhero gone bad, so let’s hope it doesn’t turn into a female-starring Chronicle-type action movie for the tween generation.

Carrie is based on the first published Stephen King novel centered around a young girl who’s tortured both at school and at home by judgmental classmates and an overbearingly religious mother, respectively. When a spontaneous invitation to prom shines a light into Carrie’s otherwise cloudy existence things seem to be looking up. Cruel pranks, telekinetic abilities, and vengeance ensues. Watch the trailers again if you think you’re missing anything story-wise.

Chloe Grace Moretz as Carrie

The new film is directed by Boys Don’t Cry and Stop-Loss helmer Kimberly Peirce and stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, and a handful of expendable teenagers who will undoubtedly bite the bullet.

Carrie hits theaters just in time for Halloween on October 18th. If it looks to be up your alley then it might make for a decent holiday film.
