Crowe’s The Water Diviner trailer previews intimate epic

It’s a little surprising that it took this long for Russell Crowe to step behind the camera and try his hand at directing. That said, the trailer for his directorial debut The Water Diviner makes the film look like a pretty strong entry as a freshman effort (as strange as it feels to consider the guy a first-timer when it comes to movie making). Framed by World War I, boasting some pretty amazing-looking cinematography, and having the cornerstone of Crowe as a leading actor, the movie looks like a winner all around.

One can assume that Crowe knows a thing or two about dramatic filmmaking given his time on set and on screen, and everything about this first trailer for his directorial debut points toward an intimate little epic. Here’s hoping it marks the start of a great new phase in the actor’s career.
