2016 new movie trailers

Catch up on a handful of new movie trailers with me

I’m playing a little movie trailer catch-up since I missed these when they were released, so enjoy this random trailer roundup with me! There have been more than a few new trailers pop up to remind us that Batman v. Superman doesn’t have to be the pin in our superhero bubble. So, cheer up. Then, there’s the madness that is Hardcore Henry (the first-person action movie formerly known as Hardcore). Also, a handful of new trailers released recently deserve their own individual posts, so stay tuned.

Watch new trailers for Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, Suicide Squad, and Hardcore Henry after the jump.

Suicide Squad new movie trailer

First up, here’s a new international trailer for DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad movie. I think David Ayer is a pretty strong director, and he’s got some interesting talent filling out a handful of iconic characters here. Plus, Jared Leto’s Joker is still being teased, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what that’s all about. Check out the new trailer:

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Captain America: Civil War new movie trailer

The Russo Brothers completely changed the Marvel game with their Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and it looks like their primed to do so again with Civil War. Easily one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, if not the year, Captain America: Civil War looks like it’ll be fantastic. Check out the new TV spot/trailer for the movie:

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

X-Men: Apocalypse new movie trailer

The unfortunate red-headed stepchild of superhero movies this year, X-Men: Apocalypse continues to chug along and tease its release. Yes, this movie exists. Yes, it’s still hitting theaters in May. I enjoyed what Matthew Vaughn did to the franchise with his First Class movie, but I wasn’t blown away when Bryan Singer came back into the picture and put together Days of Future Past. X-Men: Apocalypse continues the storyline of mutants both old and new, with a few fresh faces thrown into the mix as younger mutants we’ll recognize (like Cyclops and Jean Grey), but it’s just kind of…”meh” at this point. I’m at least intrigued by Oscar Isaac being involved as the titular villain Apocalypse, so here’s hoping the movie is fun. Check out the new trailer:

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven with the help of Professor X must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Hardcore Henry new movie trailers

And finally, here are two new trailers for the upcoming FPS/POV-style action movie Hardcore Henry. I’ve been watching this one since it first hit IndieGoGo as Hardcore way back in late 2014. It looks insane, and that’s kind of a mixed bag. Honestly, I’m not sure how well my brain and eyes will handle an entire movie shot in first-person perspective, but I’m willing to give it a try. Plus, the movie stars Shartlo Copley and Tim Roth, and those guys are pretty great. Check out two new trailer for Hardcore Henry:

Strap in. Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time:  You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British fellow called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley.) He may be on your side, but you aren’t sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You’re likely going to need it…
