Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailer brings Gal Gadot’s hero to our world

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was arguably one of the highlights of Batman v. Superman, and fans of her brief appearance have been looking forward to the Amazonian’s standalone film. Fortunately, the first Wonder Woman movie trailer debuted at Comic-Con (which is in full swing right now), and it went online for all of our viewing pleasure immediately after. The movie looks strong, as do glimpses by Gadot and Chris Pine, and it’s a lot of fun to see Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and her Amazonian sisters going into battle with bows and swords against soldiers in trenches touting machine guns. Sure, it may be early hyperbole, but Wonder Woman looks like it could be the best thing to come from the DC Justice League-building camp to-date.

Watch the Comic-Con Wonder Woman trailer, read a plot synopsis, and check out the first poster for the movie after the jump.

Pretty awesome, right? While we got to see Wonder Woman use her skills in Batman v. Superman, it looks like her fighting prowess and her will get proper introductions and plenty of screen time here. Personally, I don’t know a thing about Wonder Woman as a character and wasn’t 100% sold on Gadot’s performance in her shoes, but this movie looks like a solid ensemble with one hell of a theme song. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt, and I look forward to giving this a watch next summer.

If you’re as unfamiliar with the material as I am, here’s the official Wonder Woman movie plot synopsis to help fill us in:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
