KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD trailer previews gutters-to-Camelot epic

First King Arthur: Legend of the Sword trailer is less Ritchie-infused than expected

There have been more than a few big screen tellings of the King Arthur tale, but this spring Guy Ritchie (Snatch, The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) is re-imagining the story in his own style. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword got its first trailer way back in July when it debuted at Comic-Con, but it kind of came and went without making much of a splash. The trailer has been on my list of previews worth sharing, and it’s about time I cleaned up that list. The first trailer really does make the story feel like a Guy Ritchie joint, with quickly revealed plot points and plenty of crazy camera action, so it should be interesting to see what the director can bring to a swords and sandals epic. If anything, Jude Law’s villain Vortigern looks like fun.

Let’s just call the JUSTICE LEAGUE footage from Comic-Con the movie’s first trailer

Justice League Comic-Con trailer has Bruce Wayne assembling the team

“Footage” from DC’s upcoming Justice League movie debuted at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, but we might as well call the video the trailer it is. The beats are there, with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne assembling his team one-by-one, and we even get a nice ensemble shot of the entire Justice League together. So, it’s a trailer, and it’s worth watching if you’re a fan of what the folks over at DC are trying to do with their cinematic superhero universe. It’s hard not to be at least curious, and it looks like everyone involved is committed to making this (the MCU-sized mashup/solo movie franchise) happen. Here’s hoping Justice League comes together stronger and more promising than Batman v Superman did.

Comic-Con Kong: Skull Island trailer previews Kong’s return to theaters

Attendees at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, as well as at-home film fans, may be pre-occupied with DC/Marvel reveals, but between the cracks comes the first trailer for Kong: Skull Island. The re-imagining/reboot is packed with big names filling in shoes of familiar archetypes, but this time around Kong himself is much, much bigger than we’ve seen before. The trailer gives us quick glimpses of the enormous ape, as well as some nice shots of the lost world landscape our protagonist adventurers will be traversing, and the movie looks good so far. The cast is strong, the stage is set, and from what I hear this is the necessary second piece for the one-two punch of a Godzilla vs. King Kong movie planned for 2020. Crazy, right?

Watch the first trailer for Kong: Skull Island, read the promotional synopsis, and check out the first poster for the movie after the jump.

Vasquez and the Workaholics boys team up for TMNT Comic-Con cartoon

While the big studios were busy premiering some highly anticipated movie trailers, Nickelodeon may have dropped the coolest thing at San Diego Comic-Con, depending on your taste. Jhonen Vasquez (creator of Invader Zim) and the boys from Workaholics came together for a cartoon short film featuring everyone’s favorite heroes in a half shell, and the short is pretty great! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the animation style of Invader Zim and voiced by the Workaholics guys? Yeah, you read that right. Let’s hope this short film isn’t just a one-off, and that Vasquez has made peace with Nickelodeon and the pairing will continue to make great art together.

WONDER WOMAN trailer comes out of this year’s Comic-Con strong with a 2017 release date

Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailer brings Gal Gadot’s hero to our world

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was arguably one of the highlights of Batman v. Superman, and fans of her brief appearance have been looking forward to the Amazonian’s standalone film. Fortunately, the first Wonder Woman movie trailer debuted at Comic-Con (which is in full swing right now), and it went online for all of our viewing pleasure immediately after. The movie looks strong, as do glimpses by Gadot and Chris Pine, and it’s a lot of fun to see Wonder Woman/Diana Prince and her Amazonian sisters going into battle with bows and swords against soldiers in trenches touting machine guns. Sure, it may be early hyperbole, but Wonder Woman looks like it could be the best thing to come from the DC Justice League-building camp to-date.

Watch the Comic-Con Wonder Woman trailer, read a plot synopsis, and check out the first poster for the movie after the jump.
