DOWNSIZING trailer is Matt Damon’s Honey I Shrunk the Kids! world for wealthy adults

Downsizing trailer shrinks Damon and Wiig down to a manageable size

The first trailer for Downsizing dropped mid-month to preview the upcoming Honey I Shrunk the Adults-style overpopulation and responsible budgeting dramedy from director Alexander Payne (Sideways, Nebraska). Imagine a world in which $52,000 is worth $12 million because you’re only a few inches tall and your resource demands are only a fraction of the cost. Sure, shrinking yourself and your financial responsibilities may be exciting and adventurous at first, but I bet the seams start to come apart when the gravity of what you’ve done sets in. That’s the premise of Payne’s Downsizing, an odd movie that sees a tiny Matt Damon scraped off a hospital table by a nurse with a spatula, and I’m curious to say the least.

ANTI MATTER trailer teases a mind bending low budget movie like Pi, Primer, or Memento

anti matter movie trailer 2017

Anti Matter looks like a low key gem of a movie

Stumbled across the trailer for the movie Anti Matter recently, and the movie looks interesting enough to sink some time into (you’ll get it once you watch the trailer). Cerebral mind benders are tough to sell in a the span of a trailer, so don’t get your hopes up too high, but Anti Matter dropped in the UK last year (with a US release scheduled for this fall) and has been compared to cult favorites like Pi, Primer, and Memento. That’s some deep water to be wading around in as a debut feature film, and comparisons like that are bound to turn a few heads. The monkey mask got my attention, and the high praise kept me around for the length of the trailer. Here’s hoping Anti Matter finds a respectable audience when it hits US theaters in September.

New BLADE RUNNER 2049 trailer is coated in tension and uncertainty

blade runner 2049 new movie trailer

Everyone might be a replicant in the new New Blade Runner 2049 trailer

A brand new full-length trailer for Blade Runner 2049 dropped this morning, further teasing the sequel to Ridley Scott’s sci-fi icon. Thirty-five years later, director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) aims to advance the story using both fresh and familiar faces. The visual style from the original is present, the trailer’s dripping with tension and uncertainty, and Villeneuve has an impressive track record–all signs point to Blade Runner 2049 being something special. Here’s hoping the movie lives up to the growing hype.

Watch the second trailer (technically first official full-length) for Blade Runner 2049, read a short plot synopsis, and check out two new posters for the movie after the jump.

LIFE trailer sends Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds into space where they find…life

Trailers for Life preview alien specimen thriller starring Gyllenhaal and Reynolds

Life looks like it’s a movie that will continue the trend of yearly space disaster A-list blockbusters, and the first trailers (official and international) preview a thriller on the International Space Station starring a few familiar faces. Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission:Impossible – Rogue Nation), and Ryan Reynolds headline what looks like a mix of Ridley Scott’s Alien and John Carpenter’s The Thing, both movies that are now cult classics, so here’s hoping Life is more than a flavor-of-the-year sci-fi film. Personally, I’m surprised to see the movie’s two big names (Gyllenhaal and Reynolds) involved in this type of project, especially if it’s not something special. I’m curious, to say the least, and Life shows promise. We’ll have to wait until late spring 2017 to check it out.

PASSENGERS trailer sees Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence flirt with each other in a space station

Passengers trailer reveals a romance and robot hijinks

The movie media was aflutter when the first trailer for Passengers dropped earlier this week, and for good reason. The movie, starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence as lonely space travelers, previews a love story in space between two of today’s most watchable A-listers. Personally, I’m still on the fence between being on board and rolling my eyes at both the talent and the trailer, but Passengers looks like it could find a strong audience come December. It’s an end-of-the-year romantic sci-fi movie starring Pratt and Lawrence, so it’s bound to put more than a few butts in theater seats. From the trailer, looks like we’re in for some robot flirting, an explosion or two, and some kind of twist plot reveal as hinted at by Pratt’s final line in the trailer, “There’s a reason we woke up early.”

Watch the first trailer for Passengers and check out the poster and plot synopsis after the jump.
