Brie Larson is CAPTAIN MARVEL in the first trailer for the highly anticipated superhero movie

Carol Danvers tries to remember who she was before Captain Marvel in first trailer for Marvel’s female-led movie

To say fans have been waiting for the first trailer for Captain Marvel to drop would be an understatement. Ever since a Captain Marvel movie was first teased, Marvel Cinematic Universe moviegoers were practically drooling over the thought of what the female-led/Brie Larson-starring entry would look like. Now, given that Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers could be the answer to Avengers: Infinity War’s big questions, the release of the movie’s first trailer means that much more.

Personally, I think the first Captain Marvel trailer is a little underwhelming, but it’s common for introductory teasers to be a little lackluster so the second trailer can blow viewers out of the water. That said, fans online are already latching onto the scene of Captain Marvel giving a smiling old woman a wind-up punch to the face, so we’ve got that to enjoy as many times as we’d like.

Check out the first Captain Marvel trailer and read a short plot synopsis for the movie below.

Thoughts? I know very little about this particular superhero, but we’re sure to get plenty of backstory and origin explanation before the credits roll. After all, Captain Marvel virgins are going to need to come away from this one with enough information to understand 1) why Nick Fury shot her a pager message at the end of Infinity War and 2) how she’ll make a difference when introduced to the rest of the MCU lineup in Avengers 4.

On top of this being Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie, which is sure to make waves for that reason alone, Captain Marvel is also one of the MCU’s few period pieces. Set in the 1990s (as made evident by the Blockbuster Video showcased early in the trailer), the movie looks like it’ll have fun with the era and also give us a gloriously de-aged, in-his-Pulp-Fiction-prime Samuel L. Jackson as well as Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson sporting some fine-looking hair.

Here’s the Captain Marvel plot synopsis that’s floating around:

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel was directed by Anna Boden (Mississippi Grind, Sugar) and Ryan Fleck (Mississipi Grind, Half Nelson) and stars Brie Larson, Jude Law, Samuel L.
