The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the newest film fad in terms of tweens latching on to YA (young adult) fiction, has been close to fans fingertips for so long now it’s probably painful. Well, if you’re grabbing up every bit of promotional material for the new movie you can now get your hands on here’s a brand new teaser trailer!

Watch Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), and Gale(Liam Hemsworth) stand up for good, while Snow (Donald Sutherland) and fresh face Plutarch Heavensbee (Phillip Seymour Hoffman) plot to do evil after the jump.

For The Hunger Games: Catching Fire the gang’s all back (except those who lost in the last film of course), and stakes look to be a bit higher this time out. Everyone’s growing up, evildoers are doing a little more evil, and tension is rising in the districts.

Here’s an official synopsis of the film for those who haven’t read the books (myself included):

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

We’ve gotten some images hinting at a few new characters, and from the look of things Peeta and Gale may have some competition when it comes to Katniss’ affection.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, and series newcomers Sam Claflin (Finnick), Jena Malone (Johanna), Alan Ritchson (Gloss), Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Plutarch), Toby Jones (Claudius), and Jeffrey Wright (Beetee).

The sequel to last summer’s blockbuster success was directed by Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend, Water For Elephants; no relation to the film’s star), and Lawrence is also set to helm the next two installments The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2.
