Godzilla vs. Kong trailer teases a king-sized on-screen showdown

The first Godzilla vs. Kong trailer dropped today, and it’s part big bad showdown and part “I hope this isn’t as bad as Pacific Rim 2.”

The movie was rumored for a while, and now that the trailer is here it’s easy to jump on or off the hype train. It’s the song used in Godzilla vs. Kong trailer that’s souring some viewers.

You be the judge. Check out the first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong below.

Whaddya think? 2014’s Godzilla introduced us to a new design for the classic titan, and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island expanded the monster-verse. Most recently, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters further connected the world and introduced more monster good guys and bad guys.

Godzilla vs. Kong paints Godzilla as the baddie this time around, “and we don’t know why.” A few familiar faces and a handful of new ones are tasked with finding out what’s up.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Godzilla vs. Kong:

Legends collide in Godzilla vs. Kong as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
