Is this our first look at Beast in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Bryan Singer has been a Twitter monster in regards to enticing fans with sneak peaks of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Continuing with his wily ways, the director recently tweeted half a headshot of what appears to be an upgraded Beast for the new film.

That said, Singer didn’t explicitly say this was indeed Beast. Read and decipher his cryptic message after the jump!

Given his history of getting us to salivate by showing us very little it wouldn’t be surprising to see Singer release a slew of new images for X-Men: Days of Future Past in the near future.

In regards to what we just got, /film has a nice comparison image up (if we’re assuming this is Beast) of what the change might look like. Check it out:

Comparison shot of Beast for X-Men Days of Future PastThe roughness of the new image may suggest we’re looking at some advanced concept art, but it’s just as likely this could be the new face of Beast for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The styles are definitely different, and Matthew Vaughn brought his own brand of uniqueness to the table in terms of character design and execution with First Class, so we’ll have to wait and see what Singer does with a younger group of mutants.

Here’s a look at what Brett Ratner did with the character when he was played by Kelsey Grammer:

Not to say Grammer’s Beast was bad, but let’s keep in mind that things could always be worse when it comes to character redesigns.

Days of Future Past is said to be following the story line of the comic with the same name. If that’s the case we’ll get a bit of time travel, some old mutants meeting new mutants, some 70’s set pieces, and hopefully a handful of Sentinels. One can only hope.

The film stars a ridiculous ensemble of humans-gone-mutant as well as a few yet-unassigned A-list actors. Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, Anna PaquinDaniel Cudmore, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Lucas Till, Caleb Landry Jones, and Nicholas Hoult are all confirmed to return to the franchise, and newcomers Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Booboo Stewart, and Bingbing Fan are joining the cast. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a few more familiar faces in the mix before all is said and done.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently set for a July 18th, 2014 release.
